Therapy for children and teenagers in Berlin and online
WORK WITH ME • children & teens50 minutes | €90I offer support for young people navigating emotional, social, developmental or school-related challenges, with particular understanding of expat life, international school transitions, neurodiversity and the feeling of living between cultures.
YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED YOUR CHILD IS…ANGRY
STRUGGLING AT SCHOOL
DISREGULATED
SHUT DOWN
UNUSUALLY SENSITIVE
ANXIOUS
REACTIVE AT HOME
RESTLESS
LACKING CONFIDENCE & SELF WORTH
WITHDRAWN
OVERWHELMED
When you’re not sure
what they need
For ParentsFor internationally mobile families, these challenges can be even harder to untangle. A move, a new school, a different culture, a language shift, or the feeling of being “in between” places can affect a young person’s confidence, identity and sense of belonging.
Therapy offers a space where your child can begin to feel understood, supported and less alone – while you, as a parent, are also helped to make sense of what may be happening beneath the surface.
Young people and the families around them
who i supportI work with children, teenagers and families navigating emotional, social and developmental challenges, often within the added complexity of living abroad or moving between cultures.
struggling to adjust after an international move or school transition
experiencing anxiety, fears or ongoing worries
showing signs of low mood, withdrawal or emotional overwhelm
finding it difficult to make or maintain friendships
reacting strongly at home or school
navigating bullying, trauma, grief or loss
living with ADHD, autism or other neurodivergent profiles
struggling with self-esteem, identity or body image
feeling caught between cultures, languages or versions of home
Young people may benefit from support if they are:
want to better understand their child’s emotional world
would like support responding more calmly to their child’s behaviour
are navigating parenting in a new cultural environment
want guidance on how to support their child alongside therapy
Parents may seek support when they:
Warm, collaborative and adapted to each young person
my approachMy approach is adapted to the age, needs and personality of each child or teenager. Some young people need space to talk. Others may need a more creative, playful or structured way to express what they are feeling.
I draw on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while adapting sessions in developmentally appropriate ways. I also work with sensitivity to neurodivergence, identity, family context and the emotional impact of transition.
01
Trust first
The aim is not to force a young person to open up before they are ready. It is to build trust, understand what is happening, and create a space where they can begin to feel safer and clearer.
02
Adapted sessions
For younger children, sessions may take a more playful and creative approach. For teenagers, sessions respect their need for agency and may include helping to shape what we focus on.
03
Beyond the therapy room
Children do not exist in isolation. Where helpful, I work closely with parents, and where appropriate and with consent, with schools.
practicalitiesHow sessions work
Sessions may take place weekly, twice weekly or every two weeks, depending on what feels most useful and manageable.
Children and teenagers are encouraged to take an active role in the process where appropriate. This may include helping to shape what we focus on, how we work together, and what feels useful to them.
For younger children, especially those under the age of six or not yet in school, sessions may take a more playful and creative approach.
The length and ending of therapy are discussed together with the young person and/or their parents or carers. Sometimes it can be helpful to gradually space sessions out towards the end.
-
Sessions are available online or in person at my office in Berlin.
-
Parent consultations usually take place around every three to four sessions, with parent-only consultations available where appropriate.
-
Where helpful and with consent, I can liaise with schools to support the young person more consistently.
-
Sessions are paid privately and are not covered by public health insurance. Depending on your provider, some private health insurance or supplementary insurance plans may cover therapy under a Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie offer. Please check this directly with your insurance provider.
